After six months of meticulous planning, coordination, and hard work, the All Roads Asphalt Plant has officially added two towering new silos to its lineup—precision-dropped into place and readying for action!

Before this, we thought we were already operating very efficiently. But moving forward, we're reaching a whole new level.

With this latest expansion, our plant now boasts a total of five silos, enabling us to offer five different asphalt mixes simultaneously. The upgrade adds a whopping 70% increase in storage capacity—an additional 400 tonnes—cementing our position as the largest producer of asphalt by volume and variety in the Vancouver area.

This project has absorbed thousands of combined man-hours and stands as another major milestone in our team's long-running track record of getting the job done—on time and to spec.

The idea for the expansion was first tossed around—fittingly—over high-top chairs at a local restaurant in November 2024. Our management team was brainstorming ways to boost efficiency and ease congestion at our busy plant yard. Fast forward six months, and that casual conversation has transformed into a fully realized infrastructure upgrade.

Here's what we accomplished:

  • Re-engineered the plant's layout to make room for the new silos
  • Drilled twenty 40-foot anchor structures for seismic stability
  • Designed and poured two industrial-grade concrete pads
  • Transported two massive silos from over 3,200 kilometers away
  • Installed a towering 45,000-gallon asphalt binder oil tank, standing over 54 feet tall

This new oil tank doesn't just boost our storage capacity by 85%—it also allows us to offer three different types of liquid asphalt binders, from standard PG64-22 and PG58-22 to high-performance polymer-modified options like PG70-22 and PG82-22, along with our existing oil emulsion products.

And yes—we pulled it all off in just under six months.

From the top of newly installed Silo #4, standing tall at 50 feet, our leadership team—Dennis Eby, Asphalt Plant Manager; Brent Balluff, Consultant; and Mike Darby, Director of Projects & Production—looked down with pride.

"Before this, we thought we were already operating very efficiently," said Mike Darby. "But moving forward, we're reaching a whole new level."

Brent Balluff added with a grin, "If there's ever an earthquake, you'll find me standing right underneath this silo—because this concrete base is probably the safest place in Coquitlam."

As for Dennis Eby: "I want to thank my crew for their incredible patience and dedication. Between engineering complexities and logistical challenges, you've all been nothing short of amazing."

This expansion is more than just steel and concrete—it's a perfectly executed team effort that gears us up for even the busiest paving seasons ahead. With greater capacity, more product options, and unmatched efficiency, All Roads is paving the way for the smoothest rides yet.
