All Roads Delivers Fourth Consecutive Highway Paving Project for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure

Date Posted : September 18, 2023

For the fourth year in a row, All Roads has been awarded a high-profile contract by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure of British Columbia—an achievement that speaks volumes about our expertise, reliability, and commitment to excellence.

62 feet wide highway paving with echelon of 4 pavers side-by-side

Across all four phases of this multi-year initiative, we have resurfaced more than 300 lane kilometers of Highway 1 and produced and placed over 240,000 tons of asphalt.

This Year's Focus: Brunette River Bridge to Port Mann Bridge

In this latest phase, our crews rehabilitated 62.4 lane kilometers of pavement along one of the busiest stretches of Highway 1, running through the Coquitlam area.

Leading with Technology

From start to finish, we leveraged advanced technologies including GPS, LPS, and PaveLink. These systems were configured for scanning, design, and real-time tracking—monitoring everything from load times and truck routes to asphalt usage, mat temperature, rolling patterns, and densities. This data-driven approach ensured precision and efficiency at every step.

Innovation in Action

A highlight of this project was our continued use of four pavers in echelona method we pioneered during Phase 2 in 2021. By paving 19 meters wide in a single pass, we eliminated joints in the new surface and dramatically improved quality. Supporting this operation, up to 12 rollers worked simultaneously to achieve the highest compaction possible.

And it wasn't just about the machines. Every night, as many as 95 dedicated workers coordinated seamlessly to execute the plan. "That was the game plan for every night throughout the project, and everyone performed in perfect sync," says Project Manager Amir Mostafavi.
